Latah + Alpine Safety Improvements

Background

The City of Boise received a grant to review safety and infrastructure around the Latah and Alpine intersection. The Latah/Alpine project was selected to participate in the COMPASS FY2026 Project Development Program, which allows the city to identify projects needed to support safety in the area.

The City of Boise is currently studying the Latah and Alpine intersections to identify improvements that can address neighborhood safety and parking concerns. With more changes coming to the area, the city aims to improve safety, parking, and accessibility around that intersection. Those include:

Safety Enhancements

New enhanced crossings, pedestrian refuges, and potential treatments like raised intersections or crossings to improve safety for employees and customers.

Parking Infrastructure

Options to add approximately 145 new parking spaces or convert sections to one-way traffic with angle parking. 

Accessibility

New sidewalks, multi-use paths, and improved connections to local assets like Morris Hill Park and Jefferson Elementary.

Project Status

The city is currently getting community feedback on three proposed alternatives to the intersection. Community feedback is highly important as it will guide the project once funding is available.

While the study funds the proposals, currently there is no funding for the project. Public feedback will guide future projects once funding becomes available.
