The Boise Police Department employs approximately 100 civilians who support the operations of the Department through our crime lab, fleet services, crime analysis unit, records department, community outreach services, victim services and much more. Crime Lab
BPD’s team of Criminalists provides forensic services for criminal investigations, analyzes, evaluates, and examines evidence, interprets results, and provides technical assistance and training, as well as expert testimony.

Members of our Public Records Request Team maintain security, privacy and confidentiality of police records. They also determine which police records can be released to other agencies and the public according to policies and procedures.
Records
Our records staff enters and classifies crime reports in our records management system. They also provide administrative and technical support to internal police staff as well as offer customer service to the public. Overnight and weekend shifts are available for those needing flexibility.
Strategic Services Team
BPD’s Strategic Services Team works with officers and detectives to gather information, review complex data and identify pertinent evidence. Members of this team often come from our PRR or Records staff.
