Available Programs

The City of Boise and Republic Services have partnered to give businesses a variety of services designed to reduce landfill waste. The city offers trash, mixed-recycling, and glass recycling. We also offer assistance to help your business and tenants reduce their impact and reuse commonly disposed of materials.

  • Trash
Trash is collected up to 6x per week. Contact Republic Services to set up your trash service. Container sizes vary and include carts. Lids must be closed on containers for collection. Please don’t overfill as overflowing bins can lead to unsanitary and unsafe conditions and may be subject to additional cleanup charges.
  • Recycling
Fill your recycling container only with loose & unbagged items accepted in the program. Your first 95-gallon recycling cart is free. Save costs by adding a recycling container for up to 40% less than a trash container. Recyclable materials in plastic bags are considered contamination, and the container may be skipped or serviced as Trash and subject to additional service charges.
  • Glass
Businesses can sign up for monthly cart service or a dumpster with service options up to three times per week.

Republic Services (Start Service)

  • Republic Services: Start Services and Pick Up Schedule | Collection occurs 24 hours per day Monday – Saturday. Call (208) 345-1266 to find out your schedule.

Getting Started

When starting out, many businesses or apartments plan for either too much solid waste or not enough. This can lead to high monthly expenses or create an unsightly mess that employees must clean. These tips can help you start your service right.

  1. Plan Ahead
Are you moving into a new space or designing your location from the ground up? Make sure you determine how much space you need to dedicate to your solid waste containers.

  2. Set up your Containers
Start your service with the City of Boise and Republic Services. Schedule a delivery of containers to your planned areas. Purchase small and large recycling bins for employees’ offices, mailing rooms and common areas.
  3. Education and Outreach
Actively engage coworkers and customers to reduce their impact. Use consistent signage for waste bins and stations. Curb It offers free educational materials, such as printable signs and assistance to help your business curb their impact.

Waste Audit

A waste audit is a process of examining the contents of your trash and recycling bins to see exactly what’s being thrown away. It helps you uncover what could be reduced, reused, or recycled instead of sent to the landfill. By taking a closer look at your waste, you’ll gain valuable insights to make smarter, more sustainable decisions for your business. Check out the graphic below for an easy step-by-step guide to conducting your own waste audit.
