Get To Know Your Bill

Utility Bill example
  1. ACCOUNT NUMBER
You will need your account number when calling Utility Billing Services, registering to make online payments or setting up AutoPay.
  2. DUE DATE AND AMOUNT DUE
Payments are due by the 25th of each month. The amount due reflects current charges, any past due amount and a 1.5% late payment charge on services provided but not paid for by the due date.
  3. PREVIOUS PAYMENTS
Payments since your last billing are detailed here.
  4. TRASH CHARGES
Residential trash, recycling and compost is billed every two months. Trash charges are based on the number of carts you rent and days in the billing cycle.
Because the number of days in a month varies, the amount will vary slightly from bill to bill.
  5. RENTAL FEE
Cart rent is prorated by the month and is charged for any portion of the month the cart is rented.
  6. FRANCHISE FEE
5% of trash, recycling and compost revenue is collected on behalf of Republic Services and paid to the City of Boise. All utilities are required to pay this fee to operate in the City of Boise.
  7. SALES TAX
Idaho Code Section 63-3619 requires City of Boise to charge sales tax on cart rental fees.
  8. SEWER USAGE
Sewer charges are based on winter water use which most accurately reflects water used only indoors.
If your water is from a private well, consumption is based on the number of residents in the home; default occupancy is four persons. Usage is pro-rated to the day and will vary on each bill depending on the number of days in the billing cycle. Well users will receive a letter every year asking them to verify sewer account information.
  9. ROUND UP
A voluntary program to contribute toward improvements for Boise parks and greenbelt, and assisting customers who have difficulty paying their utility bill. Round up the total of your bill to the next dollar. Proceeds go equally towards each of these programs.
