Boise Depot Centennial

April 13-16, 2025

The Boise Depot is turning 100 years old and the City of Boise is hosting four days of free community events to celebrate! Join us April 13-16 to celebrate the past, honor the present and envision the future of this iconic Boise landmark. The full schedule of events is available online. Here’s a quick breakdown:

Sunday, April 13 – Family Day Open House from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Join us for model trains, classic cars, guided history tours in English and Spanish (ASL interpretation available upon request), activities for kids, art and history exhibits, food trucks and more. All ages are welcome!

Join us for projection art on the Depot building. Artists Annika Kalac and Will Miller’s hand-processed collage and digital animation imagines a future in which the Depot is a central hub for travel in and out of Boise, and is surrounded by high-speed railways, buses, streetcars, bicycles, and airships. Projection will begin at approximately 8:30 p.m. (dusk) and continue until 10 p.m. (weather dependent). A "flip the switch" ceremony will be held from 8-8:30 p.m. on Sunday with city leaders and the artists to debut this unique experience — and the community is invited to attend!

Monday, April 14 – Boise Depot Tours from 9 a.m. to Noon

Join us for a morning of coffee and history at the Boise Depot. Take a free tour of the historic Boise Depot with one of our knowledgeable guides (offered in English, Spanish, and ASL services available upon request). Push & Pour will be serving coffee and treats for purchase. Tours are free and offered each hour on the hour starting at 9 a.m., with the final tour starting at 11 a.m.

Tuesday, April 15 – Entertainment, Art and History on Display from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Join us at the Boise Depot to listen and learn as we embark on a journey to explore the past, present and future of transportation in Boise. Grab lunch from a local food truck and enjoy!

Live Podcast Taping

  • City Cast Boise will host a discussion with Mayor Lauren McLean and Valley Regional Transit CEO Elaine Clegg about transportation and the future of passenger rail in Boise
  • Join the hosted conversation from noon to 1 p.m. in the Boise Depot Great Hall
  • This event is first come, first served with no prior registration required
  • Opportunity for audience Q&A following the panel discussion

Wednesday, April 16 – Boise Depot 100th Birthday Celebration from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Celebrate the 100th anniversary of the opening of the Boise Depot with live music, food and beverage vendors, kids’ activities, a photo booth and other exhibits. We’ll wrap up this “Roaring 1920s” themed party with cake and a commemoration honoring the beloved Boise Depot. No tickets are required, and all ages are welcome.

Music & Entertainment

  • Boise State Jazz will be playing rhythmic classics and big band ensembles throughout the evening
  • Capture memories in the Roaring ‘20s themed photo booth

Plus, enjoy projection art on the outside of the Depot each evening during the Centennial celebration from approximately 8:30 p.m. (dusk) to 10 p.m. (weather dependent) coordinated by the Boise Arts & History Department. Each evening has a different theme, focused on travel and transportation.

All events are free and open to the public, but please note parking will be extremely limited at the Boise Depot throughout the event. Make a plan to walk, bike, use ride share or take advantage of the free shuttles running from Ann Morrison Park on Sunday, April 13 (for the “Family Day” open house from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and throughout the evening on Wednesday, April 16 (for the 100th birthday party). The road in front of the Boise Depot (W. Eastover Terrace) will be closed to through traffic on Sunday, April 13 and Wednesday, April 16.
