The City of Boise’s Department of Arts & History is seeking community input through an online survey to help shape and prioritize values, strategies, and future investments in Boise’s arts, cultural, and creative sectors. The 2024 survey assesses the experiences and insights of individuals (e.g., artists, creatives, members of the public) and those of cultural organizations. The survey results will directly inform the Cultural and Creative Industries Master Plan, an update to the inaugural Cultural Master Plan published in 2017. Click here to access the 2024 surveys, which take between 15 and 20 minutes to complete.
Some of the questions in the survey are based on the original study “The Working Artist: Boise’s Hidden Economy of Creators, Makers, and Doers” (March 2015) by Dr. Amanda Ashley and Dr. Leslie Durham of Boise State University School of Public Service but broadens it to include creative industries, such as advertising, architecture, and design, among others.
“With the significant changes that have occurred since 2017, such as population growth and shifts in community needs, community feedback is essential in guiding our strategy of cultural investments moving forward,” said Matilda Bubb, Cultural Planner. Whether you're an artist, a cultural organization, or a passionate resident, we want to hear from you!”
The Cultural and Creative Industries Survey is scheduled to close on Friday, November 22, 2024. Working alongside Agnew Beck in Boise, the Department of Arts & History will analyze the input received through the online survey and focus groups held next spring and provide a summary following the feedback period. Many of the suggestions received will inform the forthcoming Cultural and Creative Industries Master Plan, which will be put to Mayor and City Council for adoption and published for everyone to reference.
“Those who work in the creative and cultural fields, and anyone who feels passionate about our city’s history, arts and culture are often our strongest advocates for fostering a sense belonging through accessible and place-based arts and history,” said Jennifer Stevens, Director. “We encourage everyone to take part in this survey to create an even more culturally vibrant city together!”
