Rosenbaum Becomes First BFD Female Captain

Ashley Rosenbaum, a 12-year-member of the Boise Fire Department is now the first female fire captain in the department. Ashley will be field promoted at Station 17 (3801 S Cole Rd) on June 26 at 11:30 a.m. Ashley began her career with Boise Fire in 2007, she was promoted to Firefighter I in 2008, Firefighter II in 2009 and Firefighter III in 2011. Most recently she was promoted to rank of Senior Firefighter in 2017.

She has been part of the Boise Fire Hazardous Materials Team since 2014 and previously served three years on the Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting team. Not only is Ashley the first captain, but she was also the first female driver for BFD.

“Ashley is a great firefighter and will be a great leader. Her great attitude and work ethic were recognized early on here at Boise Fire and since she has been hired she has continued to show her strength and dedication to this job. She is great role model and a huge asset to the department,” said Boise Fire Chief Dennis Doan.
