Boise Fire responds to fire on roof of 8 story building downtown

March 4, 2021

At 6:35 pm Boise Fire responded to a report of smoke and fire coming from a building at S. 2nd Street and W. Myrtle Street. The first engine arrived at 6:40pm and the fire was quickly upgraded to a working fire and a second alarm response was called. In total seven engines, three truck companies, and 15 units from Boise Fire responded to the scene. Crews were assisted by Boise Police, Ada County Sheriff’s Office, and Ada County Paramedics.

Access to the building was initially difficult as the building was under construction and one of the fire hydrants was not yet in service. Firefighters were able to access the roof on the 8th floor of the building using two ladder trucks. They also ran water lines up the ladder to access the roof. Firefighters were able to get control of the fire by 7:08 pm. There were no injuries reported and the building was unoccupied at the time.

Roads in the area were closed between Front and Myrtle and from Broadway to 9th.  Some closures remain in place while fire crews remain on scene.  An investigation into what caused the fire is underway.
