Mayor David Bieter today announced the City of Boise’s Neighborhood Investment Program projects funded for the upcoming fiscal year, FY 2020. Part of the City’s Energize Our Neighborhoods initiative, the program funds improvements in neighborhoods across the city that enrich the lives of residents, enhance quality of life and encourage a strong sense of community.

At an event at Magnolia Park in Northwest Boise, Mayor Bieter announced that, in all, the city approved 20 capital projects worth $563,000 through strategic alignment of funding resources. These projects represent investment in 14 unique neighborhoods throughout the city. Most of the projects were requested by application through the city’s registered neighborhood associations.
“Boise’s neighborhoods are a key component of our city’s success,” said Mayor Bieter. “Our Neighborhood Investment Program and Energize Our Neighborhoods provides the opportunity for impactful resident engagement to understand and help bring to fruition their vision for a vibrant neighborhood. These projects are great examples of those partnerships.”
This year, the North West Neighborhood Association, where Magnolia Park is located, applied for and was awarded funding for a park shelter.
Since the inception of the Neighborhood Investment Program in 1994, over $8.3 million has been allocated to support neighborhood projects.
Energize Our Neighborhoods is a long-term strategy for keeping Boise unique and vibrant. This innovative program is a collaboration between Boise’s residents, public and private partners, and the City to improve livability. It works to identify opportunities to align resources, make measurable change, and create more vibrant and connected neighborhoods. The program is focused on neighborhood-level citizen engagement around projects designed to increase livability.
