Boise Receives Fiscal Award

December 23, 2020

Boise was recognized for strong accounting processes, transparency and inclusion in its fiscal process.

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to City of Boise for its comprehensive annual financial report for the fiscal year ended September 30, 2019.

The report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

“This award speaks to the hard work the Department of Finance and Administration has done to ensure transparency of spending plans, strong controls, and reports that are accessible to all,” said Mayor Lauren McLean. “When Boise residents are involved in the process the process is better.”

“It is an honor to be recognized for the work we’ve done creating reports accessible to all of Boise,” said Boise Chief Financial Officer Lynda Lowry. “I'm proud of the work throughout my department and all of city government that made this award possible.”
