Mayor Lauren McLean
Our beloved open spaces and clean water are part of what makes Boise special and I am committed to strong stewardship of them for all of Boise for generations to come. I am happy to announce my selection of Bix Firer to serve as the ninth member of the Open Space and Clean Water Advisory Committee.
Bix currently serves as the Director of Outdoor Program at College of Idaho and has a decade-long professional history of urban garden work, overseeing outdoor recreation programs, and directing youth environmental education programming. Much of his work has focused on improving access for the under-resourced community. Bix has experience leading family-involvement workshops, creating mentorship programs, and improving community engagement and development within the environmental recreation sector. His vision of protecting wild spaces as a place for transformation and development will serve our community well.
Bix graduated from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a BA in Anthropology, and from the University of Chicago with a Master’s in Social Sciences. I am excited about the background he brings to the committee and city.
The Boise City Open Space and Clean Water Advisory Committee is a nine-member, volunteer committee tasked with recommending the use of Open Space and Clean Water levy funds to Boise City Mayor and Council.
