Mayor McLean Set to Welcome New Arts & History Director

Mayor Lauren McLean is set to welcome the City of Boise’s new Director of theAmber Beierle, Boise Arts & History DirectorDepartment of Arts & History, Amber Beierle, pending confirmation from city council.

“I am excited to have Amber on the city’s team,” said Mayor McLean. “Art connects the people of this community, while history connects us all to our past. Amber is uniquely prepared to strengthen those connections, to highlight our shared values and to help create a city for everyone.”

Beierle began her career as the Boise City Historian in 2004. Since then, she has served at the Idaho State Archives, the Old Idaho Penitentiary, and the Idaho State Historical Society, most recently as the Historic Sites Administrator. Under her leadership, the Old Idaho Penitentiary and Historic Sites team have championed inclusive exhibitions, unique and impactful programming, and major facility renovations.

“It’s an honor to be back with the City of Boise, where I started my career almost two decades ago,” said Beierle. “I’m humbled but confident serving this community’s thriving public art, history, and cultural programs for over 16 years has given me the experience necessary to guide the long-term strategy and implementation of the department’s mission and vision for the future.”
