MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR
Today we marked a significant milestone on the journey to providing more affordable homes in our community. With our community partners, we celebrated the groundbreaking at State and Arthur where we will begin the construction of Wilson Station Apartments, a project that embodies our commitment to creating a home for everyone.
In Boise we believe that everyone who chooses to make this city their home should have access to safe, dignified housing, regardless of their budget. This commitment has led us to adopt innovative tools like the Housing Land Trust, a program dedicated to crafting and preserving affordable housing on city-owned property.
In December 2020, we took a crucial step forward by acquiring this 0.94-acre property which will soon transform into the Wilson Station Apartments, offering 102 affordable homes for families that need them.
But this project is about more than just providing housing. It's about fostering a sense of community and enriching the lives of our residents. The Wilson Station Apartments will encompass not only apartments but also a community garden, safe routes to school, and new sidewalks. We are creating a space where families can thrive, children can learn, and everyone can feel a part of something greater.
With projects like Wilson Station and The Franklin, on Franklin and Orchard, we're well on our way to achieving our goal of producing 1,250 affordable homes by 2026.
Together, we are creating more than just buildings; we are building homes, futures, and opportunities.
Be well, Boise.
