McLean Selects Meredith Stead to Fill Council District 5 Vacancy

August 10, 2023

After reviewing several applications, conducting interviews, checking references, and conferring with council leadership, Mayor Lauren McLean has chosen current Planning & Zoning Commissioner, Meredith Stead, to fill the remainder of the District 5 term recently vacated by Holli Woodings. Stead will be sworn in prior to the next Boise City Council meeting on Tuesday, August 15th where she will also be appointed to the Harris Ranch CID.

“Once again, I am so inspired by the amazing breadth of talent, dedication to our community and willingness to serve we have in Boise,” said Mayor McLean. “The top three candidates for District 5 shared these characteristics, but Meredith’s deep commitment to volunteer service, community partnerships and experience with land use issues and economic development makes her my choice for the seat. Meredith comes to council with a solid understanding of the issues we’re facing as a city, especially as we navigate the future design of our city.”

Stead has been on the Planning & Zoning Commission since 2018, serving as chair for two years. A leader in the marketing industry, Stead currently works for Albertsons Companies in their corporate offices. She is on the board of directors for FUNDSY, is a previous Leadership Boise President and has served on several other volunteer boards and commissions. Meredith and her husband, Tommy, are travel enthusiasts who love coming home to Boise to play in the foothills with their dog, Lulu.
