Boise Property Tax Rebate Program Begins This Week, Expands To Eligible Childcare Providers

December 3, 2024

Mayor Lauren McLean and Boise City Council approved, for a third time, funding to provide meaningful property tax relief for eligible residents. This year, the city’s property tax rebate program was extended to include licensed in-home childcare providers who own their home and are actively providing childcare.

“I am proud that Boise continues to provide meaningful property tax relief to many of our must vulnerable residents, and put money back in the pockets of our people,” said Mayor McLean. “We look forward to extending this relief to licensed in-home childcare providers, who support our working families in our community.”

The City of Boise launched the Property Tax Rebate Program in 2023 and is the only city in Idaho to do so. So far, the program has provided tax relief to over 1,500 residents in 2023 and almost 1,400 in 2024.

Rebate applications will be open December 4, 2024 - March 31, 2025. Eligible homeowners will receive a letter with an application later this week with a pre-paid postage envelope for return. Residents with questions about the homeowner rebates can contact the Dick Eardley Senior Center at (208) 608-7580.
