BOISE— The City of Boise is proud to announce that public voting for the final four designs of Boise’s new city flag is now open. After months of community input and creativity, residents are invited to help select from four local designs that will represent our city for generations to come.
“This process has been a truly inspiring celebration of community creativity and civic pride,” said Mayor Lauren McLean. “Each flag designs tells a story about who we are as a city. Now, we’re asking the community to choose the flag that best reflects our shared values and identity, a true Boise flag.”
Boise’s current flag, which features the City of Boise logo on a blue background, has flown for 35 years. As the city has evolved, so too has the desire for a flag that reflects Boise’s unique identity, values, and culture. The existing city logo will remain an important symbol, but the flag itself is being reimagined through a community-led effort.
The process began with a citywide call for input, gathering ideas from close to 3,000 Boise residents about the symbols and themes they’d like to see in a new flag. Inspired by this feedback, nearly 140 local artists submitted original designs, each accompanied by personal statements explaining their inspiration and vision.
A Flag Design Committee—composed of Boise residents, including civic leaders, elected officials, and City of Boise staff—carefully reviewed every submission with thought and care. Today, four final designs have been unveiled, and the public is invited to vote on the one they believe best represents Boise.
Voting is open now through Friday, April 18, 2025
