Mayor McLean to Invest $6.7 Million For Affordable Housing

December 11, 2025

BOISE – Mayor McLean will advance an additional $6.7 million to address affordable housing in Boise. Affordable housing has been her top priority since she took office in 2020.

“Investing in affordable housing is a clear indicator that we are advancing our highest priority – making sure that every Boisean has a place to call home within their budget,” said Mayor McLean.

In 2021, Mayor McLean made the historic decision to create a housing fund responding to the growing need for local affordable housing. With the support of Boise City Council, the City of Boise has advanced affordable housing goals and filled funding gaps in projects such as Wilson Station and The Franklin, and most recently opened, Denton.

To date, nearly 600 new, affordable homes have opened to residents since 2020, as part of these investments, with 300 more underway in construction.

“These funds are a powerful tool allowing the city to deliver on our promise to build more homes at Boise budgets,” said Mayor McLean. “I am proud we are able to add these funds to bring our total investment to $68.4 million.”

Boise City Council will consider this proposal during the meeting at noon Tuesday, December 16. Boise City Council meetings are free, and open to the public. You can attend in person at Boise City Hall or view the live stream here.
