Last night, at the Boise City Council Meeting, the City of Boise was honored to accept two awards of recognition from JustServe, a global organization that connects volunteers to local opportunities.
The City of Boise was recognized for two awards - the JustServe City Award and the JustServe Global City Award.
“We’re incredibly proud of the volunteer spirit here in Boise and what it’s done for the city,” said Jim Valentine, JustServe’s Southeast Boise Specialist. “When people are volunteering, they’re not only helping out, they’re building a good, strong community.”
The City of Boise joins 58 other cities across the globe as a JustServe City. The JustServe Global award places Boise among the top 10 cities globally in recognition of the city’s exceptional volunteerism and community engagement.
“Helping our neighbors is the Boise way,” said Boise Mayor Lauren McLean. “Receiving these two awards is an incredible honor and recognizes the care for and hard work that Boiseans give back into our community every day.”
The JustServe Global Award will be recognized again at the National League of Cities City Summit in Salt Lake in November.
“We know that volunteerism is deeply woven into the fabric of Boise’s identity,” said Chris Booker, JustServe’s Area Specialist. “It is that commitment to service and community impact that we want to celebrate tonight.”
