Public Invited to Meet Top Candidates for Boise Parks and Recreation Director and Fire Chief Positions

BOISE – Join us at any of the two open houses for the Boise Parks and Recreation Director and Boise Fire Chief positions and meet the top candidates. This is a chance for community members to welcome these potential new leaders and learn more about their vision for serving our city.

The open houses are open to the public and will take place on Sept. 11 and 18, respectively:

  • Boise Parks and Recreation Director
    Thursday, September 11, 4 – 6 p.m.
    Warm Springs Grill + Golf:  2495 Warm Springs Ave.
  • Boise Fire Chief
    Thursday, September 18, 5 – 6 p.m.
    City Hall West Sawtooth Room: 333 N. Mark Stall Pl.

After a brief introduction of each candidate, the public is invited to engage with the two finalists for the Director of Parks and Recreation, Sara Arkle and Mark Olson, during the Sept. 11 open house.

At the second open house on Sept. 18, community members can meet the four finalists for Boise’s next Fire Chief: Assistant Fire Chief Brad Bolen, Assistant Fire Chief Romeo Gervais, Chief Aaron Hummel and District Chief Michael Mire.

The city’s current director of Parks and Recreation, Doug Holloway, is set to retire on October 31, 2025. Fire Chief Mark Niemeyer will retire on November 30, 2025.
