Boise — Mayor Lauren McLean has selected Hannah Brass Greer to serve as her Chief of Staff. Brass Greer joined the city in 2022, serving first as Director of Strategic Initiatives before being promoted to Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy and External Affairs in 2024. She has been serving as Interim Chief of Staff since early March.
“I initially asked Hannah to serve in an interim capacity while I took some time to gather feedback from our city council, staff and community leaders and then reflect on what the city – and I – need most in a Chief of Staff in this moment,” said Mayor McLean. “Hannah is a steady, collaborative and motivating leader respected by our city team and community leaders. I trust Hannah – she’s consistently demonstrated her commitment to serving Boise, supporting our City Council and, most importantly, shares my conviction to listening to our community and delivering real results for the folks that live, work, and play in our city.”
Brass Greer oversees Mayor McLean’s key policy areas: affordable housing, climate action, economic development, affordability and community partnerships.

Prior to working in city government, Hannah served as General Counsel for Planned Parenthood of the Greater Northwest, Hawaii, Alaska, Indiana, Kentucky. She moved into that role after leading legislative advocacy for Planned Parenthood in Idaho. Earlier in her career, Hannah served as the Public Policy Director/Counsel for the ACLU of Idaho. Hannah earned her J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law and her M.A. in International Studies from the University of Washington’s Jackson School of International Studies and a B.A. in Spanish from Western Washington University. Hannah is admitted to the practice of law in the states of Idaho and Washington (Inactive Status).
