BOISE – Mayor Lauren McLean delivered her 2026 State of the City address Wednesday, May 6, at the Boise Centre, emphasizing the progress the City of Boise has made on affordable housing, public safety and quality-of-life investments.
Her speech focused on local government listening and delivering, as the closest body of government in service to residents. McLean gave several examples of the impact of community feedback as Boise grows and working in partnership to deliver abundant housing, essential services, family-wage jobs and a life of opportunity in Boise.
“As Boiseans, we know what we want and need for the city we love,” McLean said in her speech, referencing the importance of local control in a growing city and region.
She celebrated recent milestones, including the city’s successful work on delivering on housing and homelessness, funding the Supportive Housing Investment Fund, increased traffic safety measures, and expanding opportunity for Boise’s young residents through the Youth Roadmap.
She also shared what residents can expect to see in the upcoming year: groundbreaking a new concourse at the airport, seed funding for West Boise library access, deeper engagement with local businesses, a new City Hall in Your Neighborhood program, and expanded access to parks, pathways and open spaces.
“As our city grows, we need more homes at Boise budgets, jobs that pay enough for families to get ahead, parks and open space to play in, libraries to learn in and safe ways to get from home to work.” she said. “That's the city we're building.”
