Seasonal Dog Off-Leash Program Ends Sunday, Feb. 28 in Two City Parks

February 25, 2021

Due to the return of spring sports, the popular off-leash program for dogs in two City of Boise parks is wrapping up on February 28. Starting on Monday, March 1, dog owners are asked to once again leash their dogs in Ann Morrison Park (1000 S. Americana Blvd.) and at Optimist Youth Sports Complex (9889 W. Hill Rd. Pkwy.) The seasonal off-leash program will begin again in November when sports leagues wrap up at both sites.

The seasonal off-leash program at Ann Morrison Park and Optimist Youth Sports Complex is intended to increase dog off-leash opportunities for pets to enjoy during the winter months when sports leagues aren’t taking place. The program also helps prevent long-term damage to parks, and addresses public health and safety concerns caused by geese.

During the busy spring and summer seasons, the city offers a variety of locations throughout Boise for dogs to play off-leash. To learn more about the many other dog-friendly parks and areas in the City of Boise, visit our off-leash parks and areas web page. The list includes Together Treasure Valley Dog Island in Ann Morrison Park that is open year-round.

Spring is also a good time to obtain or renew an animal license for your pet. Both can be done by visiting the City of Boise’s animal licensing website.
