Memorial Day Weekend Observed at City of Boise Cemeteries

Memorial Day weekend will be observed at Morris Hill Cemetery (317 N. Latah St.) Saturday, May 24 through Monday, May 26, 2025. Staff will be on-site to assist the public in identifying grave locations. Hours at the cemetery will be:

  • 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 24
  • 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 25
  • 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, May 26 (Memorial Day)

Fort Boise Military Reserve Cemetery (1101 Mountain Cove Rd.) and Pioneer Cemetery (460 E. Warm Springs Ave.), also maintained by Boise Parks and Recreation, will be open to the public on Memorial Day weekend but will not be staffed.

Visitors are welcome to place artificial flowers, flags, fresh flowers, and wreaths graveside at city cemeteries. No glass or breakable containers are allowed. All mementos must be picked up by June 5 for those who wish to recollect them.

MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONIES

The Idaho Civil War Volunteers (ICWV) plan to conduct their annual ceremonies on Memorial Day, including a brief presentation about some of the soldiers interred at the cemeteries, a 21-gun salute and the playing of taps. The ceremony will begin at 10:45 a.m. at Morris Hill Cemetery and at 11:45 a.m. at Fort Boise Military Reserve Cemetery on Memorial Day – Monday, May 26.
