Seasonal Dog Off-Leash Program Wraps Up Saturday, February 28 in Three City Parks

February 26, 2026

Spring is on the way and the popular seasonal off-leash program for dogs in three Boise parks is coming to an end on Saturday, February 28. That means starting on Sunday, March 1, dog owners are once again asked to leash their dogs at Ann Morrison Park (1000 S. Americana Boulevard). Meanwhile, dogs are not allowed at Optimist Youth Sports Complex, located off West Hill Road Parkway, from March 1 through May 31 due to spring sports and high use. Additionally, dogs are not allowed at Simplot Sports Complex from March 1 through November 15 because of sports fields in use at the site.

Please note, Together Treasure Valley Dog Island at Ann Morrison Park remains a year-round dog off-leash destination.

Boise Parks and Recreation’s seasonal off-leash program at Ann Morrison Park, Optimist Youth Sports Complex, and Simplot Sports Complex is intended to give dog owners another option for their pets to run and play during lower park use periods.

The City of Boise offers a variety of locations for dogs to run and play off-leash throughout the year. To learn more about the many other dog-friendly parks and areas in Boise, visit our off-leash parks and areas webpage. Please remember to always clean up after your pet when visiting a city park or off-leash area, especially as the seasonal off-leash program wraps up. Thank you for your cooperation!

Spring is also a good time to obtain or renew an animal license for your pet. Both can be done by visiting the City of Boise’s animal licensing page.
