Over the past week, Boise Police officers have responded to over a dozen burglary and suspicious subject/circumstance calls in the early morning hours in the West End/Downtown and North End neighborhoods. In two cases, an unknown suspect used a rock to break glass in an attempt to gain entry to the residences. The suspect was scared away by homeowners before making entry in both cases. In another report an unknown suspect pried a screen off of a residential window before fleeing the scene. In three other cases, officers responded to suspicious subjects calls where witnesses called in two male subjects who were wearing backpacks and running in the area.
Detectives with the Boise Police Department Property Crimes Unit continue to investigate and ask anyone with information about the crimes to contact Crime Stoppers: by calling 343-COPS (2677), by visiting www.343COPS.com, or leave a tip using the “P3 Tips” app for your mobile device.
“We are investigating more suspicious activity than usual in these neighborhoods, but we are confident that things will get back to normal with a community effort,” BPD Property Crimes Unit Sgt. John Terry said. “We will have more patrol officers keeping an eye on things and we ask our neighbors to do the same. If you see something that seems out of place or odd in the late night and early morning hours, give our officers a call.”
