Boise Police officers arrest man suspected of stealing multiple ATMs

Suspect: Clarence Lancaster, 63, Salt Lake City, UT

Charges: Burglary (F) – 3 counts

After several weeks of investigating, Boise Police arrested a man suspected of stealing multiple ATMs from Boise area businesses.  Detectives have connected the suspect, Clarence Lancaster, to three burglaries.  One was at a business near N. Milwaukee St. and Franklin on 4/28/19, a second was on the 4800 block of W. Emerald on 5/24/19 and a third was at a business on the 700 block of E. Park Street on 5/6/19. In each case the suspect broke into the business overnight or early in the morning, unplugged the machine, loaded it onto a hand cart and carried it away.

Police were able to obtain several surveillance images of the suspect and the suspect’s vehicle.  After a detailed investigation, officers were able to identify the suspect as Clarence Lancaster. Boise Police Officers working in the area of Broadway and Beacon observed the suspect walking around and confronted him on Sunday, May 26th.  After further investigation, Clarence Lancaster, was booked into the Ada County Jail on three charges of Burglary.   The ATMs and the hand cart have been recovered. They were found discarded in a field off Emerald St. The money had been removed from each of the ATMs. The investigation is ongoing.
