Traffic Stop Leads to Felony Drug Trafficking Arrest

On Thursday afternoon while conducting aggressive driving directed patrols in the construction zone in the area of I-84 and Cloverdale, members of the Boise Police Neighborhood Contact Officer Unit conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for illegal lane changes while driving eastbound on the Interstate. A K9 Unit also responded to assist on the traffic stop and an open air search around the vehicle resulted in a positive alert. A search of the vehicle revealed a fire extinguisher that was hollowed out and contained a baggie. Inside the baggie officers located a brown powdery substance which later tested presumptive positive for heroin. In all, the baggie of suspected heroin weighed 637 grams, or approximately 1.4 pounds. Officers transported Coronel-Cabrera to the Ada County Jail where he was booked for felony drug trafficking.
