Update: Thanks to tips from the public, Boise Police detectives have been able to identify and arrest a suspect following an attempted sexual assault.
Arrested: Juan Carlos Aguiar, 27, Nampa
Charges: Battery with intent to commit a serious felony (F), Failure to Update RSO Registration Information (F)
Reports indicate that the victim in this investigation was at a hotel when a man struck up conversation with her around the hotel before forcing his way into her room. The victim and the victim’s dog were able to scare off the suspect, who fled the scene. Officers were able to identify the suspect using surveillance video, tips from the public and additional investigation. A warrant was issued for Aguair’s arrest on Monday and the US Marshalls Task Force located him in Boise and arrested Aguair without incident.

Boise Police are investigating an attempted sexual assault that was reported last night on the 2500 block of W. Sunrise Rim around 11:00 p.m. The victim reported having a few brief interactions with the man that evening but did not know him. The victim was able to get away from the man and call for help. Detectives have obtained a surveillance picture of the suspect and are asking anyone who recognizes the man to call police.
Suspect description: The suspect is described as being a man about 5’7” and 160 lbs. He was bald and had a goatee. He also had a tear drop tattoo near one eye.
