On Tuesday members of the United States Marshals Task Force in the San Diego area arrested 24-year-old Omar Hamadi, who was wanted in Ada County on a $10,000 felony warrant for abuse, exploitation, or neglect of a vulnerable adult.
What Happened: The warrant stems from an investigation by the Boise Police Special Victim’s Unit into the death of a Boise man. On May 16th, a 38-year-old Boise resident was hospitalized due to hot water burns from the water in a bathtub. The victim was transported to a burn unit in Salt Lake City and passed away on May 27th. The victim is a vulnerable adult with physical impairments. Detectives forwarded their investigation on to the Ada County Prosecutor’s Office and a warrant was issued for the arrest of the victim’s caretaker, Omar Hamadi. Members of the Boise Police Neighborhood Contact Officer Unit and members of the United States Marshals Greater Idaho Fugitive Task Force attempted to take Hamadi into custody, but evidence indicated he had left the state and relocated to San Diego. Officers made contact with US Marshals in that area and Hamadi was taken into custody on Tuesday evening.
The Ada County Courts will work with local officials to arrange the extradition process.
