BPD arrests two suspects after early morning shots fired call

Updated to correct Triston Vangerpen's charges from Aggravated Battery to Aggravated Assault.

Charges: Aggravated Assault (F), Destruction of evidence (F)

Arrested: Triston Vangerpen, 18, Meridian

Charges: Aggravated Assault (F) – 2 counts

Just before 5:30 this morning Boise Police responded to a report of shots fired near W. Main St. and N. Garden St.  The victim’s vehicle had been shot at by occupants in another vehicle as both cars traveled on the road. The victim’s vehicle was struck but no one was injured. After an initial investigation, officers were able to identify and locate the suspects and their vehicle.  Officers learned that there had been an earlier altercation between the two groups at Myrtle and Capitol. Due to an investigation into the earlier altercation, one of the suspects, identified as Donovan Leavitt, is charged with aggravated assault and destruction of evidence. Officers also gathered evidence that a suspect traveling with Leavitt, identified as Triston Vangerpen, was also involved and he has been charged with two counts of aggravated battery.

The investigation is ongoing and further information about the incident is not available at this time.
