Suspect arrested after pepper spray incident on Lusk Street

Arrested: Tom Tiffany, 42, Boise

Charges:  Resisting and Obstructing (m), warrant for petit theft (m)

Just after 2:30 this afternoon Boise Police were called to Lusk Street for a report of a battery.  Officers arrived on scene and the subject had already left the area.  People on scene described the suspect as wearing a large machete.  He was also spraying some type of toxic spray toward people nearby.  Ada County Paramedics treated and released about six victims at the scene.  Officers quickly found the suspect, still in possession of the machete, walking a short distance away.  He refused police commands and attempted to run away. Officers were able to catch up with him and take him into custody. After further investigation, the suspect, identified as Tom Tiffany, was booked into the Ada County Jail on charges of resisting and obstructing and a prior warrant.  Evidence showed the suspect had sprayed a type of pepper spray at the victims. Officers are forwarding their investigation into misdemeanor battery to the prosecutor’s office for additional charges.
