Boise Police officers responded to a dispute call at 2:13 a.m. on Wednesday on the 4900 block of Albion Street. When officers arrived on scene they located a victim in the parking lot of an apartment building. Evidence indicated that a male adult, later identified as 24-year-old Ismail Abdirahman, had been physically violent to the adult female victim in an apartment prior to police arrival. Evidence indicated that the suspect had then brandished a gun in a threatening manner, causing the victim to fear for her life, and fired it inside the apartment. No one was hurt by the bullet and the victim escaped from the apartment and called police. BPD Patrol Officers made contact with the suspect in the apartment and were able to call him out and safely take him into custody without incident.
Members of the BPD Violent Crimes Unit responded to the scene and further investigation indicates that Abdirahman had been violent with the same victim on Tuesday while in a vehicle. In that incident he reportedly brandished a gun and fired it into the center console, causing the victim to fear for her life. The suspect and victim are known to each other. Abdirahman was transported to the Ada County Jail where he was booked for two counts of aggravated assault and one count of using a deadly weapon in commission of a felony. The investigation is ongoing and more charges are pending.
The victim received medical treatment on scene for minor injuries. Boise Police Victim Witness Coordinators also responded to the scene and are providing follow-up resources.
