Update: Arrest made in homicide investigation; Detectives seeking surveillance video

Arrested: Eava June-Mccarthy, 18, Nampa

Charges: 2nd Degree Murder (F), Evidence- Destruction Alteration or Concealment (F)

Shortly after 9 p.m. on Monday, Caldwell Police took Eava June-Mccarthy into custody on an active warrant for 2nd Degree Murder. Boise Police investigators have been working with Caldwell PD’s Street Crimes Unit and the FBI’s Metro Task Force to investigate this homicide. Upon further investigation detectives discovered that the individuals involved in this incident are known to each other and there is no evidence to indicate any danger to the public at this time. Mccarthy was initially booked into the Canyon County Jail and has since been transferred and booked into the Ada County Jail on the listed charges.

The investigation is ongoing and there is the potential for additional arrests. Investigators are asking for any businesses in the area that have not already spoken with police and have security video to contact police. Detectives are interested in looking for passing vehicles between the hours of 10:30 p.m. on Thursday October 29th and 1:00 a.m. on Friday October 30th.  Detectives are specifically interested in talking with any business owners along the highlighted roads on the map, Emerald between Milwaukee and Cole, Cole from Emerald to the interstate and Milwaukee from Emerald. Previously Released: October 30, 2020

At 12:41 a.m. on 10/30/2020 Boise Police responded to the 7000 block of W. Emerald for a welfare check regarding a male adult in a hallway.  When officers arrived they located a victim who had been shot.  Officers and Ada County Paramedics attempted life saving measures and the victim was rushed the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Upon arriving on scene, officers also began to search the area for additional victims as well as a suspect.  No one else was found to be injured and evidence at the scene led officers to investigate the death as a homicide. Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division were called to the scene and the investigation is ongoing. The victim’s name will be released by the Ada County Coroner pending notification of next of kin.
