On 9/17/2020 Boise Police responded to a call for service after an incident around 7:00 p.m. at a park near W. Elder Street and S. Owyhee Street. A victim reported being approached by an unknown male who harassed her and threatened to burn her. The victim believed that she was specifically targeted by the male because he perceived her as being a person who identifies as LGBTQ+. Based on the evidence provided, Boise Police began to investigate the report under Idaho’s Malicious Harassment Law. Detectives have continued to follow up on the investigation. At this time, a suspect has not yet been identified. The victim has been offered support and services from local providers and BPD Victim Witness Coordinators. Detectives are asking any witnesses or anyone with additional information to call police.
Suspect description: The suspect is described as being a white male, age 30 to 50, and about 5’9”. He was unshaven and wearing all black shorts, shirt, shoes, baseball hat and sunglasses.
Detectives recognize that the description is vague at this time and would like anyone with more information to please call dispatch or Crime Stoppers.

The Malicious Harassment Law (Idaho Code Section 18-7902) says that it is unlawful for a person to maliciously harass another person because of that person’s race, color, religion, ancestry, or nation origin. It is also a crime to cause or to threaten to cause physical injury to a person or to damage, destroy, or deface a person’s property.
