On January 2, 2021 around 12:45 p.m. Boise Police responded to a report of an accidental shooting on the 28000 block of S. Pleasant Valley Road. A male adult reported accidentally shooting another male adult while target shooting. The victim was found to be deceased at the scene. Detectives from the Boise Police Department along with crime scene investigators responded to investigate. After an investigation, detectives determined that the shooting appeared to be a tragic accident. The investigation showed that while one man was leaning across the bed of a truck to shoot at a target, the victim emerged from the other side of the truck and into the path of the shooter at the same time he fired a shot.
The death investigation will be forwarded to the Ada County Prosecutors Office for legal review. The Boise Police Department responded to provide an external investigation as the subject being investigated is a civilian employee at the Ada County Sheriff’s Office.
