Boise Police Detectives working with Ada County Prosecutors and the Ada County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate a homicide on October 19, 2022. At the time of the incident, evidence supported probable cause for the arrest of Zachary Gordan, Brianna Lopez, and Mindy Kraus. As with any investigation, detectives continue to investigate and gather evidence until all investigative leads have been exhausted. During this further investigation, additional evidence showed the charges should be amended at this time. Additional evidence showed Gordan may have acted in self-defense. Amended charges were filed by the Ada County Prosecutor’s Office yesterday, December 1, 2022, in Ada County Court.

On Wednesday night, October 19, 2022, around 11:08 pm Boise Police responded to a local hospital after a victim arrived with a gunshot wound and later passed away from his injuries. Detectives from the Boise Police Violent Crime Unit immediately began an investigation. Evidence led detectives to a location on the 7000 block of W. Emerald Street. For the safety of the public and officers, the Boise Police Department Special Operations Unit responded to the scene. The suspects were safely taken into custody Friday, October 21, 2022, around 4:15 p.m. After further investigation, three suspects were booked into the Ada County Jail. At this time in the investigation, evidence shows the suspect, Zachary Gordan, got into a verbal dispute with an adult male victim on Wednesday in a residence near Cole and Emerald which led to the shooting and the victim being dropped off at the hospital. The suspect and the victim were known to each other. Two additional suspects, Brianna Lopez and Mindy Kraus, were also arrested Friday for their role and booked into the Ada County Jail.
