Arrested: Evaristo Alvear, 37, Maple Valley, WA

Charges: Robbery (F), Animals - Police Dog or Horse - Kill or Mistreat (F), Arrests & Seizures-Resisting or Obstructing Officers (m)

At 2:15 pm on Monday, Boise Police responded to a report of a robbery at a bank on the 7700 block of W. Fairview Ave.  The suspect demanded money and got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.  Officers received a description of the suspect and quickly began to canvas the area. A police K9 also began performing a track to locate the suspect and the K9 was headed in the right direction when other officers located the suspect outside a building on the 7200 block of Fairview.  The suspect repeatedly would not comply with officer demands and kept one hand in his pocket.  Officers formed a plan to use less lethal force and the police K9 to assist with taking the suspect into custody. As the K9 was deployed, the suspect pulled out a knife and attempted to slash at the K9. Officers were then forced to deploy a taser to take the suspect into custody.  Neither the K9 nor the officers were injured. The suspect was taken to a local hospital before being booked into the Ada County Jail on the listed charges.
