Update: Suspect in July stabbing arrested in California

Suspect: Ryan McCabe, 42, Boise

Charges: Aggravated Battery (F)

Ryan McCabe, the suspect in a stabbing in July was arrested on Tuesday, October 18 2022 in Chico, California during a traffic stop. After McCabe was taken into custody for criminal charges related to the traffic stop, investigators learned that McCabe had a felony warrant out of Boise, Idaho for Aggravated Battery. McCabe was booked into the Butte County Jail in California and is pending extradition to Idaho.

Previously Released July 14, 2022

Boise Police Department detectives are searching for a suspect after a victim was stabbed and injured overnight.  The suspect has been identified as Ryan McCabe.  Evidence indicates McCabe fled Boise and is traveling in an unknown vehicle.  Detectives are coordinating with law enforcement across the state and are asking for the public to call police if anyone sees him or has information on where he might be.

Suspect:  Ryan McCabe is described as being 41 years old, approximately 6’3” with several tattoos (photo below)

What happened:

Around 2:00 am Boise Police responded to a report of a stabbing in a parking lot on the 1400 block of S. Entertainment Ave.  Officers located an injured adult male and secured the scene. Ada County Paramedics took the victim to a local hospital where he is being treated for serious injuries.  Detectives from the Boise Police Violent Crimes Unit also responded and through an investigation identified Ryan McCabe as a suspect.  The suspect and victim were known to each other. Preliminary information indicates they were in a physical fight when McCabe produced a weapon.  Information indicates McCabe may have fled the area.  Anyone who sees him is asked to call Ada County Dispatch at 208-377-6790.
