Arrested: Kellen Tutt, 39, Meridian
Charges: Manslaughter - Vehicular (F), Children-Injury to Child-Adult Transports Minor in Vehicle While Under the Influence (M)
Following an investigation into the fatal pedestrian crash on January 23rd, this morning Boise Police arrested the driver, Kellen Tutt, for Vehicle Manslaughter. Evidence indicates Tutt was driving under the influence of alcohol when he struck the victim walking in the crosswalk at State and 11th. Investigators discovered that prior to the crash, Tutt drove with and dropped off a child at a nearby business. Tutt was booked into the Ada County Jail on the listed charges.

On Monday, January 23, 2023, at 12:16 pm Boise Police officers responded to a vehicle vs pedestrian injury crash at 11th and State Street. Ada County Paramedics also responded and transported the adult male pedestrian to the hospital with serious injuries. Detectives began an investigation and the crash reconstruction team responded to the scene. On Wednesday, January 25, 2023, Boise Police Detectives were informed that the adult male victim had passed away from his injuries. His identity will be released by the Ada County Coroner pending notification of next of kin.
At the time of the crash, evidence showed the driver of a black pickup truck was turning left from southbound 11th Street to travel eastbound on State Street when the truck struck a pedestrian. The pedestrian was walking northbound in the crosswalk on 11th Street crossing State Street. The driver remained on the scene. The investigation is ongoing, no charges have been filed at this time.
