BPD arrests driver after Sunday car crash; victim passes away

March 16, 2023

Arrested: Tanner Borman, 21, Boise

Charges: Driving under the Influence (Aggravated) – 2 counts (F)

On March 12, 2023, around 2:30 pm, Boise Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at S. Federal Way and W. Targee St.  The Boise Fire Department also responded and extricated two victims from an SUV.  The two victims in the SUV, a female adult driver, and a male adult passenger, were taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Sunday Boise Police started an investigation on scene and the driver of the other involved vehicle, Tanner Borman, failed a field sobriety test. A preliminary investigation showed Borman was traveling south on Federal Way when his vehicle collided with the SUV at the intersection with Targee St.

Borman was taken to the Ada County Jail on charges of Aggravated DUI and four failure to appear warrants. He was also cited for having fictitious license plates on his vehicle and for not having vehicle insurance.

Sadly, the male adult victim taken to the hospital Sunday passed away from his injuries on March 15, 2023. His name will be released by the Ada County Coroner pending next of kin.

The investigation is ongoing and additional or amended charges are possible.
