On May 28, 2025, the Boise Police Department's Organized Retail Crime Unit was alerted to a nationwide theft suspect who had just committed a theft at a retail store in Burley, Idaho. The store, Ulta Beauty, participates in the Organized Retail Crime Association of Idaho and takes an active role in investigating organized retail crimes. The store provided detailed information about the suspect and the suspect’s vehicle. The individual, later identified as Yerman Sierra Aguilar, is suspected of being involved in at least 195 theft incidents at the same national retail chain in multiple states, resulting in an estimated total loss of over $100,000.
Boise Police officers estimated the travel time from Burley to Boise and proactively responded to the store on North Milwaukee Street around 3:20 p.m. At approximately 3:30 p.m., officers observed the suspect’s vehicle arrive in the parking lot. Aguilar entered the store, and evidence shows that he exited minutes later with merchandise valued at more than $1,500, which he had not paid for.
Officers took Aguilar into custody and began an investigation. A second individual, Liester Queralta Moya, was identified as the driver waiting in the vehicle. Following further investigation, both suspects were arrested and booked into the Ada County Jail on the listed charges. The investigation remains ongoing.
“These arrests highlight the outstanding work being done by our Organized Retail Crime Unit,” said Detective Marshall Plaisted. “Their proactive approach, collaboration with retailers, and swift action not only led to the arrest of a suspect connected to over 195 thefts nationwide but also helped protect Idaho businesses from ongoing significant financial losses. This is exactly the kind of impact we strive to make—keeping our community safe and holding repeat offenders accountable.”
