On November 23, 2025, shortly after 9:30 am, Boise Police officers responded to the 500 block of Americana Blvd. following a reported battery. The suspect had barricaded himself inside a travel trailer parked in a nearby alley and refused to exit. Responding officers made multiple attempts to talk to the suspect and safely take him into custody. Officers secured the scene and closed the River St. exit of I-184, an alleyway near Cooper Ct,. and a portion of 16th St. Officers made continued attempts to negotiate with the suspect before deploying pepper ball rounds into the trailer. A Boise Police drone was also deployed to better observe the suspect. The Boise Police Special Operations Unit, Crisis Negotiation Team, and Bomb Squad responded to assist patrol officers. Negotiators made multiple attempts to communicate with the suspect, without success. Multiple call-outs were made to the suspect with no response before the Special Operations Unit deployed flashbang devices to distract the suspect. The Boise Police Bomb Squad deployed a robot to secure the trailer door. Crisis negotiators once again made attempts to communicate with the suspect by calling a phone that was intentionally dropped into the trailer by officers. The drone was utilized once again to monitor the suspect. SOU officers deployed tear gas rounds into the trailer, and after multiple call-outs to the suspect, he exited the trailer and was taken into custody without incident shortly after 2:40 pm. Charges for the suspect are pending.
“Our officers utilized resources effectively and displayed the coordination and teamwork that they consistently train for,” said Boise Police Lt. Terry Weir. “We were fortunate to be able to resolve this incident without serious injuries to the suspect, the nearby public, and responding officers.”
