Boise Police are investigating a tragic crash that claimed the life of a young girl earlier today.
At approximately 4:42 p.m., Boise Police officers responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian crash at the intersection of N Harrison Blvd & W Ada St. Ada County Paramedics rushed the young girl to a local hospital, where she sadly passed away later in the evening. The Ada County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity pending notification of next of kin.
A preliminary investigation indicates that the driver of a pickup truck was traveling west on Ada St. and stopped at a stop sign at Harrison Blvd. The pedestrian, also traveling west on Ada St., had stopped on the sidewalk on the northeast corner of the intersection. Traffic was backed up on Harrison Blvd, and the collision occurred when both the driver and the pedestrian entered the intersection with the driver attempting to turn right to head north on Harrison Blvd.
The Boise Police Crash Reconstruction Team and Violent Crime Unit detectives responded to the scene, and the investigation is ongoing. Harrison Blvd. was closed for the investigation and has since reopened.
“This is a parent’s worst nightmare, and tonight our hearts go out to the victim’s family, friends, and her community at large,” said Boise Police Chief Chris Dennison. “Boise Police will release additional information as the investigation develops.”
