BPD safely resolves barricaded subject, arson investigation

November 20, 2025

Arrested: Sharif Bari, 45, Boise

Charges: Arson I (F)

On November 19, 2025, at approximately 4:20 p.m., Boise Police responded to the 700 block of E. Parkway Ct. regarding a report of a person in crisis. The individual had barricaded himself inside a residence and was armed with a knife. Officers quickly arrived and confirmed that all other occupants were safely out of the house.

While officers were developing a safety plan with the other residents, the home’s fire alarms began sounding, and smoke became visible inside the residence. To ensure the safety of the neighborhood, officers remained on scene and continued attempts to contact the suspect, identified as Sharif Bari. The Boise Police Crisis Negotiation Team also responded and attempted to establish communication with him. Nearby neighbors were also asked to evacuate for their safety.

Over the next two hours, as negotiations continued, officers observed smoke persist inside the house. Bari eventually surrendered and was safely taken into custody at approximately 6:37 p.m.

Boise Fire and Boise Police located a small fire inside the home, which Boise Fire extinguished. Officers transported Bari to a local hospital, where he was medically cleared and later booked into the Ada County Jail on the listed charge.  The charge was later upgraded to Arson 1.
