Arrested: Ryan Norton-Putnam, 30, Boise
Charges: Aggravated Battery (F)
Just before 2:15 a.m. on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, Boise Police officers responded to the area of W. Grove Street and 15th Street following reports of shots fired. Officers who were nearby heard the shots and responded immediately. Upon arrival, officers secured the scene and located an adult male victim. The victim was transported to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Detectives from the Boise Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit continued the investigation and identified the suspect as Ryan Norton-Putnam. Today, April 23, 2026, officers located Norton-Putnam in an alley near the 500 block of W. Main Street. Officers secured the scene, and because the suspect was possibly armed, BPD’s Special Operation Unit deployed a noise and flash distraction device as part of their effort to safely approach and take the suspect into custody. Norton-Putnam was arrested around 3:30 p.m. and booked into the Ada County Jail.
Preliminary evidence indicates the suspect and victim were involved in a dispute prior to the shooting. The investigation remains ongoing. Detectives are looking to speak with two witnesses, who were seen on surveillance video and appeared to have recorded the incident. Those individuals, along with anyone who has additional information, are encouraged to contact Ada County Dispatch at 208-377-6790.
