BPD recovers 51 firearms during arrest

Charges: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a convicted felon (F)

On January 12, 2026, Boise Police responded to the 1200 block of Hartman St. as part of an investigation.  Evidence indicated that a suspect in the home was a felon and in possession of stolen firearms. Officers obtained a search warrant and, upon serving the warrant, located 51 firearms.  The suspect, Anthony Buhler, was arrested and booked into the Ada County Jail on the listed charge.

Further investigation revealed that several firearms were missing serial numbers, and 10 firearms were confirmed stolen from residences and storage units in Boise and Washington State. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges are possible.

Firearm Safety Reminder

Firearm theft remains a serious concern. In 2025, 55 firearms were stolen from residences and from both locked and unlocked vehicles. In 2024, that number was 92.

We encourage all firearm owners to:

  • Secure firearms properly
  • Never leave firearms unattended in vehicles
