The Boise Police Department is now accepting applications for entry-level police officers. This recruitment offers an opportunity for people who want to serve their community while building a rewarding career in law enforcement. Early applications are strongly encouraged.
“This is more than a job, it’s a chance to work closely with your community and be part of a team committed to professionalism and service,” said Boise Police Chief Chris Dennison.
Application Timeline:
- Applications open: June 1, 2026
- Applications close: July 10, 2026
- The first 100 applicants who meet minimum qualifications may be invited to test
- Patrol Academy begins March 2027
Once hired, recruits will complete a challenging 22-week police academy followed by an extensive field training program designed to prepare them for a successful career in law enforcement.
“We can teach skills and tactics, but we’re looking first and foremost for people with strong character, integrity, and a genuine desire to serve others,” Dennison said.
The Boise Police Department offers a wide range of career opportunities, including patrol, investigations, specialty units, and community outreach programs, along with competitive wages and an excellent benefits package.
“Joining BPD can open the door to a long and fulfilling career serving one of the best communities in the country,” Dennison said. “Apply early. Prepare well. We look forward to seeing you in the process.”
