UPDATE: BPD Investigates Overnight Stabbing

Arrested: James Rice, 24, Meridian

Charges: Aggravated Battery (F)

At approximately 11:15 a.m., Meridian Police took James Rice into custody, and after further investigation by Boise Police, he was charged with felony aggravated battery and booked into the Ada County Jail.

Early this morning, Boise Police detectives identified Rice as the suspect in a stabbing that occurred overnight at an apartment near Ustick Road and Five Mile Road in Boise. When officers arrived on scene, they secured the scene and provided immediate life-saving care to an adult male victim until Ada County Paramedics arrived and assumed care. The victim is continuing to be treated at a local hospital.

A preliminary investigation indicates the suspect and the victim were involved in a verbal altercation before the stabbing. The investigation remains ongoing.

The Boise Police Department would like to thank the Meridian Police Department and the Meridian/Garden City Special Tactics Group for their assistance in taking Rice into custody.

Boise Police are investigating a stabbing reported around 12:40 a.m. near Ustick Road and Five Mile Road in Boise. The victim was transported to a local hospital with injuries that appeared on scene to be life-threatening. As part of the investigation, detectives identified a suspect and located him at a residence in Meridian. The Meridian Police Department is assisting in contacting the suspect.
