BOISE – The City of Boise has earned the Gold Peak Performance Award from the National Association of Clean Water Agencies for achieving 100% compliance with clean water standards in 2024. Boise is the only city in Idaho to receive this national award, recognizing the city’s commitment to protecting the Boise River and keeping our community clean and healthy.
"It is an honor to receive national recognition for our clean Boise River, and I'm proud of the work our team has done to receive this award," said Boise Mayor McLean. "The Boise River is a gathering place for our community, and the city has a commitment to keeping this natural resource clean for generations to come."
The city’s two water renewal facilities clean 30 million gallons of water each day before sending it safely to the Boise River, preserving this treasured resource for fish, wildlife and recreation.
“This award is a win for everyone who enjoys the Boise River,” said Steve Burgos, Public Works Director for the City of Boise. “From floating to fishing or biking the greenbelt, the river is the heart of our community. Our team works every day to keep it clean, and we’re proud to be recognized nationally for that work.”
The award comes during the 75th anniversary of Boise’s Water Renewal Services, which will be celebrated at the Water Jamboree on Saturday, August 16 at Ann Morrison Park. The free event features food, music, activities and fun for all ages.
