Boise Seeks Residents to Help Shape the Future of Curb It Programs

February 7, 2025

City of Boise residents who like to talk trash and think about how to curb it are invited to join a volunteer focus group to help shape the future of Boise’s Curb It solid waste programs. This is a unique opportunity for residents to help plan the next 10 years of solid waste services, ensuring Boise remains a leader in sustainable solutions.

Boise’s curbside programs have already set the bar high. From compost collection that keeps valuable nutrients in our soil, to an innovative glass recycling program, convenient mixed recycling service, and the safe disposal of household hazardous waste, our community has proven that it’s possible to work together for a greener, cleaner city for everyone.

"We're proud of how far we've come, thanks to the enthusiastic participation of Boise residents," said Peter McCullough, Curb It programs manager. "But we’re always looking ahead. With new technologies and emerging challenges, we want to ensure our solid waste programs continue to meet the needs of our growing community."

Focus group volunteers will join one of two 90-minute working groups with city staff and experts to explore fresh ideas, evaluate current services, and envision what’s next for Boise’s solid waste management. No prior experience is necessary—just a passion for sustainability and a desire to make a difference.
